Vietnam Veteran Receives Bronze Star

You know we wouldn’t be here today without
many in the audience and many here standing up and saying, “You know what it’s about time
Ken Carlock got the Bronze Star he deserves!” On Thursday October Nineteenth , at the Army
Aviation Support Facility in Decatur, Illinois, over forty-five years after Staff Sergeant
Kenneth Carlock returned home from the Vietnam War. He finally received the Bronze Star Medal
he deserves. Sergeant Carlock was assigned to Howitzer
Battery, 2nd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, and and showed exceptional skill
as the artillery forward observer during reconnaissance-in-force operations against hostile enemy base areas. Despite receiving this great honor, Carlock
remained humbled. I’m in the spotlight but I need to share it
with all of my friends and everybody here in uniform as far as I’m concerned this is
for all of us not just me. Sergeant Carlock served in Vietnam from August
31st 1971 to March 5th 1972. Reporting for the Illinois Army National Guard,
I’m Army Sergeant Zack Zimerman.
