Vet, 87, finally awarded WWII medals

THEY’RE BACK IF TORONTO TONIGHT AT 7:07. A MEMORABLE OCCASION 70 YEARS IN THE MAKING. A LONG TIME. THIS WORLD WAR II VETERAN FROM RHODE ISLAND FINALLY GOT THE RECOGNITION HE DESERVES. TONY DEBROSKA SERVED IN THE 38th INFANTRY DIVISION. HE EARNED BUT NEVER RECEIVED SEVEN PRESTIGIOUS MEDALS. HE ENLISTED WHEN HE WAS 18, FOUR MONTHS SHY OF HIS HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION. NOW AT 87 YEARS OLD HE IS FINALLY BEING AWARDED. HE SAYS THAT HE WAITED A LONG TIME BUT HE WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR HIS COUNTRY. I WAITED ALMOST 70 YEARS FOR IT. I FEEL IT LIKE IT WAS A LOST CAUSE. IT FINALLY CAME THROUGH. IF A WAR CAME AGAIN I WOULD JOIN RIGHT NOW.
