Stolen Valor at Arizona State Fair

How's it goin? How long have you been in, Sergeant? (Inaudible) 1968 Till Kuwait To Kuwait? Wow. Thank you for your service (Inaudible) Still not done. Now we're here chasing ISIS in Arizona Chasing ISIS in Arizona? With the army? (Inaudible) (Inaudible) Mentions that he was in Black Ops for four months serving as a Jungle Expert. He had a Jungle Expert patch where his unit patch should be. (Inaudible) (Camera guy realizes it's too loud and moves closer) [Colin Powell] pulled some strings for me. I just came from being a sniper in a combat engineer unit 18th Engineer BDE somehow or other I was out at Ft. Riley, Kansas Somehow it was 'get to the airport in Ohio' and I got out there And it was seriously…just walked right into the Air Cav they trained me to be a crew chief a fueler ummm.. did convoys, did all of it. and then, got stupid with a girl and wound up in ground armored cav down in Ft. gordon. And I was having problems with the rednecks So… somehow or another So many people know GEN Colin Powell (no shit?) They called him And they said, "Hey umm. one of your boys is having real trouble Down in Texas So…. he knows my name… so All he did is he went to his files where he already had my name.. on paper and uhm.. he just forged my name. yeah, he just forged my name. Taking me out of the national guard and sticking me into the reserves for a years. (what?) Unaware bystander: Wow, what was happening? What was going on? When we were heading into Kuwait. I mean what were the rednecks doin? ….being stupid They won't respected the United States of America They were trying to fight you and stuff? No, it's pretty stupid when you hang a pearl-handled .38 out your pick-up truck door After throwing your beer can out (inaudible) goin bam bam bam bam bam bam emptyin' it. That's the story in America. Yeah, I watched it alive. But I was also carrying a Ruger .357 Magnum……. with some nasty rounds in it. Yeah, so anyways I had something to fire back with Yeah, it's stupid but I never had to pull it on anybody. That is really hard to earn You think goin through.. they they talk about going through Ranger School is hard This is a thousand times harder I ask: Did you go through Ranger School? I didn't have to. They put me through this. That's the 18th Engineer Brigade. That's in Ft. Campbell, KY, right in that building. Right next to the green beret… Right next to the green beret… And so… when you go here, you've gotta take four courses That last a year and half But this country was in martial law So we were at war down there with Noriega. And so what happened is First we had to go through JOTC which is the Jungle Operations Training Course And since this was already our unit patch For most everybody down there, Army And so, then after you got done with that The Navy SEALS, and the Marines came in And they trained us the hard stuff, guerilla warfare training and that, and you had to go through that for over a year. And then, after we got done with that, then we had to go through terrorist training. And then, because… Because I was Black Ops I was the only one in our battalion with Colin Powell who was a full bird Colonel then.. It's in my military file, I carry it in my wallet I am the only one that had to take a college Army course of the geneva convention and judicial military law Like they do at Westpoint And I was the only one in my battalion that had to take it And I passed it.. and yep. And I had to go through that. And after I got done with that. The Air Force got a hold of us And me and another 10 man team was picked And we had to go out in the jungle for 10 days with the Air Force With this great big flatbed trailer With a humungous radar screen on it And what they were doing is they were setting us up for what happens if uhh…. nuclear missiles hit Central America Through Honduras, Nicaragua, Belize, all through there ..El Salvador and what we had to prepare for was that… is that…. a year or less after these missiles hit Central America The United States would turn into an ice age and everybody would be dead. That's the effect it would have Yeah.. and we were… they made it because on account of my..what I went through… …they made me go through a lot I was a POW for 5 weeks. In Vietnam and then in Nam my…my uhh…MEDEVAC chopper crashed that was something else I never thought after that, that I'd wind up in the Air Cav Flying at 5,000ft man, with the doors open get that nice sightseeing tour of Viet… you can't even see cars at that anymore Like that.. that you can see counties… you can just see that…it looks like you're lookin at a map of Texas See all the counties in it, that's what it looks like at 5,000ft. Me: Have you heard of this thing called Stolen Valor? That's kind of a laid back thing From what understand, you're talkin more.. you're talkin green beret you're talkin Delta you're talkin Navy SEALs Me: Well it's not really green beret, Delta, SEALs…. Me: It's this thing where people who never really actually served in the military go to a surplus store or something Just buy the uniform, get the benefits Oh you're talkin like that. Me: Yeah, like a free coffee for Veteran's Day, because that's coming up, you know. Yeah, so I just wanted to get your story, make sure it wasn't one of those…. It depends what branch of service you're imitating They get to prosecute you. Me: Yeah, it actually is a federal law. If you get any benefit from uhh, falsifying military service, that's against the law. Yeah, that's why I carry everything in my wallet. Me: You have your DD214? I've got my DD 214 and I've got some other stuff in there too. That I only show to uhh…. The FBI I won't show it to law enforcement, they don't have any (inaudible) As a matter of fact, there was a guy that made the news about two and a half years ago that umm He was going around and getting motel discounts and everything else and…and… turned and burned on him and just so happened that uhh I guess that somebody that worked for one of these motels.. or hotels knew him and didn't like him cuz he was a mean person (Inaudible) Been divorced about 3 times And he was uhhh. I believe he was uhhh….. Just walking around with the rank of E-7 gunny…. in the Marine Corps They went up and when he came down, he went to a restaurant That was near the motel And he went in there and sat down And the Marines were waitin for him. The Military Police. They came in and handcuffed him (Inaudible) (I'm making sure it's OK with the booth owner that I'm in his space talking to this guy) and and and you go to federal prison for doin that They don't send you to uhh… They can actually send you to Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas for it and that's not a good place to be Yeah, was at Ft. Riley And we used to hear real bad stories about GI's gone bad From Ft. Riley get cracked in the hammer division (??????) Wound up in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas for about 15 years. No, they were real soldiers, they got stupid Yeah, they wanted out of the armored cav But they couldn't. Once you…. It's hard. Once you get into armored cav when you get into be 11 Bravo you don't walk from it. You gotta stay there till your time is up You don't get to say "Oh wait! I wanna go to Hawaii and you know uhhh.. roll in the dirt and uhh.. maybe get into the Military Police or something, you know. (Inaudible) What happened is…. When we were…. When we were at the highest point in Vietnam with the 2nd Corps We call it "I" Corps but the 1st Corps came down Idon't know if you ever seen the movie mel gibson "We Were Soldiers" In the Ia Drang Valley, well we were right up against it, the valley. And Moscow and Hanoi Came up with a really good idea To seize the guys from somewhere high up in the mountains And they're not…. we can cut off their supply routes And their air support Loops around the fire base and starve them to death So for 5 weeks, after about a week and a half our food and our water ran out and… that got real heavy. and…. quite a few of us lost weight. And priority came out of the jungle And once did down in Panama… Where uhhh. the only reason I became one of Colonel Powell's boys was because I was dying….. from lockjaw. and he got me to the hospital before I died. He did personally….. Well his driver did….. He commanded him to it. stay there till I got all situated and stuff. As a matter of fact I got about 140 copies at my house Oh yeah I got all that This I keep it marked where I got my name on there, "Menne" And it's got my JOTC there…
(he was pointing to a block that said "civilian education 5 years" Nothing about JOTC) But a lot of the other stuff, the global warfare school, and uhhh the terrorist training They couldn't put on there It wasn't allowed. But yeah, when this starts getting weather worn, I take this out and I burn it. …with a lighter… that I use for candles. and I don't smoke, I just use it when the power goes out. and I burn it… and then uhh…. uhhhh. uhhhh. Because it's got my social security number on there

Just so you can thump your chest and peacock your vet status. You're more unprofessional for this than the poor soul you lead on so you can feel good about yourself. Silent professional.

  6. What if you're extremlely fit and capable, you wear the uniform along with a sign on your chest that says "Yes this is stolen Valor. Dont talk to me. Just. Fight me. I have nothing to lose." Will people still approach him like "Heyyyy whats your MOS?"

  7. I just found out that civilians can buy challenge coins. All of the AR's FM's, and UCMJ, knowledge I have learned to get challenge coins are only worth 13.00$ kinda makes you wonder how easily stolen Valor can happen. To all of you online soldiers you can go fuck yourselves.

  8. Please don’t ever post again. You make yourself look ignorant and stupid. Let the mentally unstable do what ever they want. It is not you fucking job to out them. It is your job to shut the fuck up.

  9. Twenty year retiree here.
Sure, it's vexing. But honestly, if he's not falsifying anything for profit and gain, I feel sorry for fuys like that. My pension doesn't get any smaller.

  10. These people who steal the valor. Of us veterans are the lowest forms of humanity that there are. I can't believe they have the balls to pull crap like this. I am happy that other true veterans call them out. I hope everyone of them are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. They are disgraceful.
