how are the boys know that very good ok have they started reading the harry potter book ahoy there they watching movies thermogenic now hey yeah yes that's a boo johnson got those for gatos for lunch and then you have enough yeah hey out here I'll follow me always I do the acceptance is young hello thank you DJ cut down on the so now we're down to sister jersey barriers with the checkpoints some sea wire here and that's generally to minimize traffic during the day mission has been pretty much to advise train and assist the various Iraqi units the ia the rocky army the Iraqi police the Federal Police here advising them operations training them and how to conduct operations or or forensics classics classes or for instance courses and and assisting them in anything that they need whether it's actually going out on patrol mission with them coordinating assets for them and helping them out in any way that we can yes it happens usually once every every two weeks or so we'll have a general officer or a or a person from the Department of State come here and do a battlefield circulation of the city and it gives our chant our guys opportunity to escort them in Sector show them the city of Samara show them how much progress the city has made since since we've been here and since a few years before since the the mosque as a was attacked back in 2006 yes our soldiers do a great job in partnership with the ISF that also lives with us here at the sjcc in securing the SH JCC and securing of sock from you know from external threats that may try to attack that's JCC or the song yeah we are one maneuver platoon in the city of Samara supporting the Samara joint Coordination Center living in kind of an austere environment it's an Iraqi compound where we work with elinoz liaison officers from all the different branches of is F in the Samara area for the purpose of securing the surrounding cities and the Tampa bypass the reason the city is so secure is because we have multiple branches of Iraqi security forces here that work together we have the Sons of Iraq the Federal Police and the Iraqi army all kind of working in conjunction and that's kind of the whole purpose of this tomorrow joint Coordination Center is getting them all together having them work together and through the sock which is a Samara operation center to kind of facilitate security in this area yeah it's a it's quite a different mission from what most people are doing in Iraq right now our battalions main focus in the blot areas counter IDF counter-ied kind of battle space is F kind of coordination type stuff but our mission is purely kind of key leader engagements working with the different isf leaders throughout the AO to kind of get them ready for the takeover of you know of Samarra so our mission is is a little bit different a little bit kind of I guess compared we mainly move dismounted we don't use our vehicles a lot to go to the different areas here in Samara to go the different like the division headquarters for the Federal Police we have Iraqi army locations within a few kilometers of here we also have quite a few religious places like the spiral minaret and the golden mosque which are huge in the Islamic religion so we do get a lot of VIPs for the operation center here in tomorrow to meet with the generals there and we do get a lot of VIPs from usf to come and see those kind of landmarks that they have here as well so we do do a lot of kind of sightseeing type missions but they're always in conjunction with some sort of meeting you know some sort of coordination for future planning we do we do get a different operation like operation horizon where we facilitate the movement of units as they exfil North Iraq down to South Iraq this is kind of a key location and so we facilitate you know every unit that comes down route Tampa comes through our AO and so the security here in the coordination with those different isf units is so key to that so making sure that we get out of here safely and then you know we do do a lot of QRF for kind of higher echelon units that do operations in this area kind of an hour basically hour hour and a half a day t direction we will move out you know with isf counterparts to provide that kind of insect or QRF this is also the only landing zone for about an hour and a half in either direction so any kind of medevac or really anybody that's got to come in or out of the Samar area has to come through here so yeah I mean lots of different things kind of just that comes with being in an austere
