Pilot Program Launched to Cease Mandatory Female Haircuts at RTC and OTC (HL09)

IAN COTTER. THESE ARE YOUR HEADLINES FROM AROUND THE FLEET. THIS MONTH, NAVAL SERVICE TRAINING COMMAND
LAUNCHED A PILOT PROGRAM THAT WILL CEASE THE MANDATORY FEMALE HAIRCUTS AT BOTH RECRUIT
AND OFFICER TRAINING COMMANDS. THE PILOT PROGRAM, SCHEDULED TO RUN FROM JANUARY
THROUGH MARCH OF 2015, WILL INFORM NEW FEMALE SAILORS ABOUT PROPER GROOMING STANDARDS AND
HAIRSTYLES THAT MEET UNIFORM REGULATIONS. THE NAVY IS SCHEDULED TO CHRISTEN THE FIFTH
JOINT HIGH SPEED VESSEL, OR JHSV, USNS TRENTON, JANUARY 10TH, IN MOBILE, ALABAMA SECRETARY OF THE NAVY, RAY MABUS, WILL DELIVER
THE CEREMONY’S PRINCIPAL ADDRESS. THIS SHIP WILL BE THE FOURTH NAVAL VESSEL
TO BEAR THE NAME TRENTON, IN HONOR OF GEORGE WASHINGTON’S VICTORY DURING THE REVOLUTIONARY
WAR. TRENTON WILL SUPPORT THE PLATFORM’S MISSION
