OHIO: Military Friendly

OHIO: Military Friendly

– Military friendly
means that the University is open and welcome to
our veteran students. – I would definitely recommend Ohio University to any veteran. – I guess you could say
I just feel at home here. – We have all of these resources on campus for you to utilize. – The administrators are
enthusiastic and they’re motivated to help in any way they can
to support student success. They have the tutoring
center in the library which offers free
tutoring to help students through the difficult
classes they may take. – The faculty has really helped me out and set me up for success. – Let’s talk about the
Post 9/11 Chapter 33, which is the most
comprehensive education package that our country has ever
produced for our veterans. The reason that a veteran
or a dependent student would want to use their education benefits is if they are at 100%,
tuition fees are paid for, you receive $1,000 a
year in a book stipend, plus you receive a
monthly housing allowance. – I really encourage any veteran, any time I meet a veteran, “Hey, are you “taking advantage of your
educational benefits?” – The G.I. Bill was created
to give someone a future after their time in the service. – That’s why we’re there. To help figure out what’s going on. – I think the transition
from being in the military to being a student can be very easy. – It is pretty easy as long
as you stay on top of things and pay attention, I think it’s very easy. I was honestly terrified
of going to school but after getting in the hang
of it and finding a degree program that I really wanted,
it’s been great, I love it. – Everyone from my boss on up
is very willing to help us. There’s things that we wanna do to promote our veterans and get
Ohio University exposed as military friendly,
they’re willing to do it. – I would encourage prospective students to take that first step, it’s doable, there’s a huge support
system at Ohio University. – If they stay here their four
years, I get to watch them grow and progress as not only
as a student but as a person and for them to walk out
with a degree and get a job that they’re very much
interested in and want to be in. That’s icing on the cake. (soft upbeat music)
