  1. I have a chest my father made for me in the late 70's it is holding, but the nails are starting to rust away. I therefore cannot pass it down to my son as it will not last . If you want true heirloom quality you must take these things into account. Few do. I also recommend using spiral pallet nails. They are strong as hell. In fact they are the strongest wood bonding method I know of. I have literally delaminated heavy duty pine pallet planks trying to get them apart, that's how strong they are – but coat them in fish oil and let them dry first you will get another 50 years of use (130-160years, possibly much more).

  2. Love the vid however you could’ve sanded the pieces before construction, that was you can get into the nooks and crannies. Just a friendly suggestion.
