Hello all watch enthusiasts! Let’s continue exploring and evaluating those timepieces that take some design hints from Panerai. This time we’re doing it with a completely new brand here on my channel. I was very curious to try one of these, but no spoilers for you. Let’s review this Gruppo Gamma Peacemaker [Musica] Gruppo Gamma is a microbrand founded in 2013 in Singapore by Naoki Tsukumo a military watches collector and enthusiast. Since the beginning his goal was producing good quality watches with a somehow retro/vintage inspired look. In comparison with a lot of other competitors,
production numbers are way lower both for different models on the market and for produced watches, between 1000 and 2000 every year. In Italy this brand isn’t very popular yet, but things are different in other countries where you can find a lot of fans. That?s the reason why they produced a limited version of the Chrononaut 2 years ago, a model with supercompressor case, two crowns and inner bezel for the Diver’s Watches Facebook Group one of the most important communities out there about diver’s watches. Talking about microbrands, I’m also reminding some words that an Italian Youtuber told me some days ago: according to him, these watches have no history and no heritage so I shouldn’t review them here on my youtube channel. I completely disagree, especially if we’re talking about microbrands like Gruppo Gamma, Zelos or Crepas, for example, that are owned and run by true watch lovers and enthusiasts. I’ve always been very glad to have here on my channel all those kind of watches that are somehow interesting for quality, price and design, and I’ll keep on doing this, of course mixing these reviews with other ones about bigger brands. I’m leaving all those “fortune teller” topics to my “colleague” to discuss the future of the watch market or even some investment opportunities. In this hobby the most important things to me are the pleasure and the emotions I’m getting when I’m wearing a certain watch. And this Gruppo Gamma is giving me a lot of emotions, all positive ones… let’s have a closer look! The box is perfect for the Gruppo Gamma’s style rugged and military looking, made of Cordura with this rubber logo on top and the zipper. Inside you can find this pocket that is used for documents and warranty, but here it’s empty since this is a test unit, on the other side there are two slots for watches or some accessories. Materials are very good, it reminds me of the box used by Crepas for the Tornado, only a bit bigger. The watch is really breathtaking, you can’t notice it! Fortunately I’ve been lucky enough to review this blue dial version; there’s also another one with a green dial. The case design, the bronze and the color of the indexes is really a winning combo. Blue is lighter in the middle
and it get’s darker on the outer part. At 12 you can see only the Gruppo Gamma writing, while at 6 there’s the model name, Peacemaker. No date, which is matching the retro style look of this watch.
Since this is a sandwich dial indexes are engraved on the dial and filled with Old Radium Superluminova, the one replicating a bit the vintage look, and hands have a matt finish. Lume is awesome in the dark, very bright and long lasting and this means that there’s a really good amount of Superluminova. The sapphire crystal is also very nice, box shaped a slightly domed, mixing together the vintage style look and the practicality of a better scratch resistance. AR coating on the inside is very good, thanks to the matt
finish on the dial too so there are not so annoying reflections. The case is like a piece of art very good machining and also finishing, it’s all brushed, without any minor flaws. This unit isn’t exactly new, so there’s already a bit of patina which is even enhancing the overall look. The crown is very big, but fortunately not so protruded on the wrist, so it’s comfortable with your hand movements. The threading is perfect, and it works flawlessly when opening or closing it. I guess that a closed caseback would have been better, but Gruppo Gamma made this in a very good way. It’s very good looking despite the big gap between the size of the case and the size of the movement. There’s a metal movement holder and there’s this bronze ring on the inside of the caseback window. The outer part is stainless steel, for not having problems on the skin with bronze. There are some important information here: 200m water resistance and Swiss automatic. On the Gruppo Gamma Peacemaker you can find ETA 2824-2 movement, one of the most common Swiss movements out there, with 28800bph 38 hour power reserve with hacking and handwindable of course. This one gains about 5 second a day so it’s not bad at all. The only minor flaw is that in order to keep the price a bit lower they decided not to remove the date mechanism and this is a bit useless since there’s no date on the dial. The leather strap is 24mm at the lugs and 22mm at the buckle. It’s very high quality, this is a used strap so it has some wear on it but it looks even better than new. The buckle is signed and of course it’s in bronze with screw pin as well as the ones in the lugs. On the wrist this Gruppo Gamma Peacemaker is really outstanding maybe a bit on the edge for my 16-16,5cm wrist, but it’s quite comfortable and it’s replicating more or less the same size of a classic Panerai in 44mm case. 51,9mm lug to lug distance, 14,7mm thickness (with the crystal) You know me already, when I really like a watch you can easily understand it If you like the Panerai design and you don’t want to buy a homage and if you like bronze you really should consider this timepiece. Its dial with bronze and vintage looking Superluminova will cheer you up everytime you’ll check the time on it, maybe not on Monday morning! Main downsides are the ones I’ve talked about during the review: see-through caseback let you see the very reliable but also very small ETA 2824 movement if you compare it with the case diameter. And then I didn’t like so much that the date mechanism is still there. This watch retails at 879 € from the official European importer. I’m glad to announce you that you can use this code in order to get a 10% discount not only for the Peacemaker but also on every other model in the online store with the exception of Limited Edition models. So you?re basically going to pay 791 € for this, including shipping and without any custom fees since they’re shipping from Milan. This is not a very cheap price, but it’s justified by the quality and the look of the watch and its absolute beauty. What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments! I hope that you like this video, thanks for watching see you soon in the next video, ciao!
