Exercise Cobra Gold Continues in Thailand; ONR Tests New Boots


THE 33RD ANNUAL COBRA GOLD EXERCISE IS GOING
ON THROUGH THIS FRIDAY IN THAILAND. 13 THOUSAND MEMBERS FROM THE NAVY, AIR FORCE,
ARMY AND MARINE CORPS ARE WORKING WITH NATIONS ACROSS THE PACIFIC. COBRA GOLD 14 IS DESIGNED TO ADVANCE REGIONAL
SECURITY AND DEVELOP RESPONSE PLANS TO REGIONAL CRISES. THIS YEAR MARKS THE 181ST YEAR OF THE U.S.
AND THAI ALLIANCE, MAKING THAILAND THE OLDEST U.S. ALLY IN THE PACIFIC. NEW FOOTWEAR COULD BE MAKING ITS WAY TO THE
FLEET SOON. THE TECH SOLUTIONS OFFICE AT THE OFFICE OF
NAVAL RESEARCH IS DEVELOPING LIGHTER, COMPOSITE-TOE BOOTS FOR SAILORS ACROSS THE FLEET. ONR OFFICIALS SAID THE NEW BOOTS WILL PROVIDE
BETTER PROTECTION AND AFTER HOURS OF WEAR, ARE STILL COMFORTABLE. SAILORS ARE WEAR TESTING THE BOOTS, WHICH
IS SCHEDULED TO FINISH IN AUGUST. THE TECH SOLUTIONS OFFICE SAYS YOU SHOULD
