Community raises money for Radford Army Ammunition Plant fire victims


new at 11 helping families through a tragic accident people in the Radford community and surrounding areas came together today to raise money for the three men injured in the Radford Army Ammunition fire in June andrew goad dakota Grima and Travis Mitchell were working at the plant June 11th when the fire started in the production building goat died as the goat died as a result of his injuries Mitchell was released from the hospital they began with the motorcycle ride with 143 bikers organizers told us they raised over $2,000 from now part of the event alone they say the community and the plants leaders gave the group a lot of support for the ride and the dinner today we have had businesses you know of course people who knew the victim’s family friends and we’re working alongside strangers today just as so many people have come to help and I mean we couldn’t have it would have been this big without the support that we’ve gotten from the community the dinner was held at the Union Hall for the ammunition plant that the plants leaders let the group use for free people as far away as Roanoke took time to bring food and supplies for the cause 100% of the proceeds will go toward the three families that that fire affected
