126th Chief’s Birthday

126th Chief’s Birthday

“Looking back when I put on Chief, I realize
what a big responsibility I took on. Especially to the men and women who are called
Sailors. It’s not about individual success anymore,
it’s about taking care of the Sailors, training them, guiding them, mentoring them, developing
them to become tomorrow’s leaders – not only to the enlisted personnel but to our
junior officers too.” “Being a Chief means to put them first,
and to show them that they are our number priority and as that I work, we work for them
and not the other way around.” “The word chief means taking first place. The fouled anchor symbolizes the trials and
tribulation of every Chief Petty Officer. The “U” symbolizes the unity of the chief’s
mess. The “S” symbolizes the service to one’s
God and country. The “N” being the navigation, that a chief
is expected to provide to each Sailor. The chain symbolizes the flexibility and reminds
us the chain also represents the trust of one Chief Petty Officer on another to get
the job done.”
